You can find Port Byron Old Erie Canal Heritage Park in Port Byron, New York. This spot honors the history of the Erie Canal and what life used to be like for those who resided here in the 19^th and 20^th centuries. The heritage park officially opened in 2016 and is located at the former site of Lock 52, which provides visitors with an intriguing look into the past.

While here, you’ll have the chance to see the intact Erie Canal Lock 52, the Erie House Complex that dates back to the late 1800s, the Erie House and Tavern Hotel, a blacksmith shop, and a mule barn. There is also a wonderful visitor center that provides in-depth information about the park through interactive displays and other educational resources. Situated right along the New York State Thruway at milepost 309 when you’re traveling east, you don’t want to miss out on this opportunity to step back in time. The park opens for the season on May 1^st and operates from 9 am until 6 pm daily.
