Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix

The Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix encompasses 3.5 acres and it helps visitors feel a sense of calm and serenity. This garden features sculptures, a cobblestone beach, a 12-foot waterfall, a stream, a lovely tea garden, a tea house, and a koi pond. Visitors also enjoy the stone footbridges, lanterns, and other beautiful elements. The Japanese garden began as a shared cultural vision of the sister cities of Phoenix, Arizona, and Himeji, Japan. Inspiration was gained when a delegate from Phoenix visited Japan in 1988 and viewed several of the gardens there. A team of landscape architects from Himeji visited Phoenix to help implement the design.

Admission rates are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, $7 for students, military, and children ages 6-17, and free for children under six. Regular hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 9 AM to 4 PM. This garden offers classes and workshops and a public tea ceremony once a month, and they even have Japanese crafting and other fun workshops throughout the year. During your visit, feel free to snap pictures of the plants and beautiful landscape features. Pets, except for service animals, are not allowed at this attraction. Most people spend at least half an hour here, but all are welcome to explore the garden at their own pace.
