Beacon Rock

Hike up the enormous Beacon Rock to get a stunning bird’s eye view of the Columbia River and surrounding area.

Located East of Vancouver, Washington, off of State Route 14, outdoor enthusiasts of all ages can enjoy hiking up Beacon Rock. This ancient rock is over 800 feet tall and used to be the core of a volcano. The trailhead takes you all the way up the side of Beacon Rock. Hikers can expect to see a paved trail with sturdy handrails for the use and safety of everyone who visits. It is truly a sight to behold once you reach the top, so bring a camera with you to help capture all the sights. 

Mountain bikers, equestrians, and climbers will also enjoy this spot. There are several picnic tables plus two kitchen shelters in the surrounding area. The kitchen shelters need to be reserved in advance, and they have running water and power. Beacon Rock is located in a State Park, making it a pristine spot for campers as well. If you want to stay awhile, bring your fishing gear and try to catch some salmon or bass along the banks of the Columbia River. There are plenty of other hiking trails nearby if you want to take a breather and explore more of what this part of the great Northwest has to offer.
